The Design Xmas 2025 initiative, promoted by ToWant, selected several architecture studios and the main showrooms in central Milan to design a Christmas tree. Our studio was paired with the Sant’Agostino Ceramics showroom, a well-known brand in the sector. The project interprets the Christmas tree as a true design object, developed using the same approach as our larger-scale projects, from the study of the existing space to the optimization of construction details. Fully made of ceramic, the tree was elevated from the floor on a base covered with red tiles, allowing it to fit visually within the two tubular structures crossing the window, so that it can be appreciated from the outside without appearing visually “cut off.” The tree is composed of six large-format green ceramic panels that evoke its silhouette, arranged in ascending and descending order to enhance its three-dimensionality, and rotated 45° to be perceived more dynamically by passersby along Corso Garibaldi. The inner surfaces of exposed terracotta, with traditional recesses for adhesive application, were highlighted with red coloring, transforming a technical detail into an intriguing decorative element. A key aspect of the project was the development of a construction system that allowed rapid assembly directly in the showroom. Thanks to a double interlocking system hidden within the wooden base, the tree was assembled in less than half an hour, without the use of glue or mechanical fasteners.
